| VENUS WILLIAMS: “IT’S NOT TOO BAD TO GO TO THREE SETS” |

No4 seed Venus Williams was pleased with the result and the time spent on court in her 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Lucie Safarova, but regretted the brevity of the rallies during the match. “I was really happy with the first set, and with most of the third,” said the 1999 champion after the match. “I just I want to hit balls, so in a way it's not too bad to go three sets. (In the second set) I just didn't get that break back, and she played some good shots. She played strong and she is a talented player, so I have to give her credit.”
“The points were so short we both played aggressive, and she was just going for every shot, for the lines, so there was not really an opportunity to hit balls and have rallies, because she's constantly trying to just take the first shot and hopefully play aggressive and beat me,” rued Williams, who will face the winner of Aleksandra Wozniak and Anna Chakvetadze in the third round, most likely on Wednesday. |
